Introducing the Dominican Republic

Discover the best of the Dominican Republic.
The Dominican Republic is known for its beautiful beaches and a multitude of resorts, but it's also one of the most diverse destinations you can visit and one that remains culturally rich. You'll want to dance the bachata and merengue, listen to live music, and speak with its hospitable people. Head outdoors for a land brimming with cacao and coffee trails, national parks with hiking trails and mountains, and tropical forests. From colonial cities to beach towns, offshore islands to lagoons, there's more to see and do than you can fit into one trip.

When is the best time to visit?
The Dominican Republic enjoys a tropical climate with high temperatures throughout the year. There is a dry and a rainy season, although even the wetter months see plenty of hot sunny days and rainfall usually comes in heavy showers that clear quickly. Generally, the best time to visit is between December and April when sunshine and temperatures are milder and rainfall is lowest.

How many days do you need?
While it's possible to have a fun trip to one of the Dominican Republic's cities over a long weekend, we recommend at least 5 days if you really want to experience much of what the country has to offer.

If you have 10 days, you could almost see the entire island from north to south on an adventurous trip that includes visiting the Las Terrenas beach area, Los Haitises National Park, the colonial city of Santiago, and Santo Domingo.

Getting Around the Dominican Republic
Most travelers fly into Santo Domingo and then travel around the island by private transfer. If you're up for it, you could also rent a car and discover the island in a more personalized way.

Our trip lasted 3 weeks at the Dominican Republic and was planned entirely by Ivelisa who was so helpful and friendly with so much willing to help us and make our trip one that we would never forget. During the planning process we have been planning our trip step by step according to our own wishes, and Ivelisa has been very supportive and helpful to our trip planning and understanding of our needs. During the trip everything was perfect and on time. Each place we arrived we were greeted with a wonderful hospitality. Each driver arrived at the time for pick up at least 15 minutes before departure time. The hotels were exactly as we expected and booked. Each day the activity was welcomed a day prior by Francis Garcia who reminded us about the activity and what to bring, who will pick up us, time, logistics. Francis was 24/7 awake and was ready to give service, to advise and to help.
The cover of experiences we had was amazing and varied, we had workshops such as dancing lesson, chocolates making experience, rum tasting, cigars making, Coco Bongo dance club, catamaran dancing party boat, hiking tours, boat trips and so much more.
We really had a great trip thanks to the team who made it great for us, and supported us 24/7.

Thank you for sharing such a detailed account of your trip! I’ve just wrapped up a 6-day trip to the Dominican Republic, and I wanted to take a moment to share my feedback.
First of all, a big thank you to Isabella and Francis Garcia for organizing and coordinating the entire tour. Everything went according to plan – and in the rare moments when it didn’t, it somehow still did. Any small hiccups were handled quickly and smoothly, almost before you had time to notice them.

A special shout-out to Francis. I’m still not entirely convinced this was a human and not some kind of AI-powered super-agent. It felt like he was available 24/7, replying within seconds at any time of day or night. I’ve never seen response times like that – honestly, even my own thoughts take longer to process.
Overall, a very well-organized experience. Thank you again for making the trip so easy and enjoyable.

Hola Alexandre,

We were truly blessed to have you visit. Thank you for your kind words and for being such an incredible traveler. It means so much to us that you enjoyed and connected with our island the way you did during your trip.

The Dominican Republic, Francis, and I will be here, excitedly waiting to welcome you back for your next adventure.

P.S. Next time, I’ll take you to visit Constanza and meet Francis’ family; think fresh strawberry picking and a swim at Aguas Blancas waterfall, one of the coldest places in the Dominican Republic, where temperatures can drop below zero.

Best,
Isabel
