Our trip to the ice cave was for just the two of us- we wound up in the cave with no other people for a good period of time. Our guide said that is nearly impossible. Our guide was local and could get much closer to the entrance of the cave. Making it a half hour hike each way rather than an hour each way.
Each waterfall was more spectacular than the next.
Each hotel was beautiful and cozy.
The only less than stellar experience was the Lava Show- that may have been because we were thrown into a time slot with a school group.

Thank you for the kind review Sheryl. I'm so happy you had such a great experience in Iceland.
Siggi, our go-to ice cave guy at Breiðamerkurjökull is THE guide in the area, a local practically raised on the glacier. Fun fact; he actually scouts and finds most of the ice caves in that area, including the one you went to.
I'm sorry your experience with the Lava Show was less than ideal, but I hope it didn't spoil the overall experience.
Take care, and visit us soon again!

Emanuela did an amazing job in planning our trip to Iceland. She gave us an initial itinerary, which we tweaked to fit exactly what we wanted. She was easy to work with and very attentive to all our needs. She was in contact with us while we were in Iceland, to make sure everything was going well. We did have to rearrange one event and she took care of that for us! Her responses were always very quick! I would highly recommend Emanuela and her company!

A special thank you to Guðmundur Óli (Gummi), who was incredibly patient and helpful throughout the planning process.
Our group changed from more than 20 people to just 13, and he handled all the adjustments with great care and flexibility.
We really appreciated his recommendations and the beautiful places included in our itinerary.

The hotels were excellent, and we were very happy with the accommodation choices.
A big thank you also to our driver, Bessi from Moonwalker, who was so helpful, accommodating, and cooperative throughout the trip.
We truly appreciated his care and flexibility, especially when the weather affected our plans.

Unfortunately, we experienced heavy rain on our arrival day and throughout the following day, which meant we had to skip some planned stops for safety. This was entirely due to the weather and beyond kimkim’s control. The team did their best to adapt the itinerary so we could still enjoy our time in Iceland.

All 13 of us came away very happy with the experience. Thank you to Gummi, Bessi, and the team for helping us create such lovely memories of Iceland. We would happily recommend them

Hotels were very good and when we were able to eat at a recommended restaurant, the food was fantastic.

I can highly recommend our itinerary for number and types of sights seen and time behind the wheel. The summaries of the sights were helpful.

I contacted Adam during the trip and he was prompt in all his responses. He had provided and "emergency" number but I took that to mean a real emergency rather than issues we had when we were on the ground! So I probably bugged him more than necessary but he took it with good humor.

Noga helped us plan a long awaited trip to Iceland. She worked with our original idea of "how hard can it be to drive around Iceland in a week" to a much more realistic and enjoyable experience. We were able to visit the Snaefellsness Peninsula, Golden Circle and southern area of Iceland, which gave us a best of Iceland experience!

Our hotels were comfortable and close to the activities we had planned. The food was delicious with each accommodation having a restaurant on-site!

After arriving in Reykjavik early in the morning and taking a stroll around the Hallgrimskirkja church and having a bite to eat at the Cafe Loki (highly recommend!), we drove a couple hours north to the Hvammsvik Hot Springs. This was one of the best experiences that Noga arranged for us. It's smaller with several small pools set in the rocks leading down to the bay, where you could take a cold plunge! They also had a sauna one could enjoy. The setting was intimate, and the cafe attached to the hot springs served delicious food and drinks. Of note, we also experienced the Blue Lagoon on our last day in Iceland, and hands down, the Hvammsvik Hot Springs far outweighs that over crowded tourist blight.

Another fun thing Noga arranged for us to do was the Thorsmork Super Jeep Experience! Simeon was our guide/driver and we couldn't have had a better time. We were in a group of 7 which was perfect for this adventure. Simeon was informative with a dry sense of humor, which we all appreciated! The landscape was outstanding. We stopped at different sites, including a glacier that we could walk up to (gulp!).

Having a car allowed us the freedom to change our plans on the fly when our planned Glacier Lagoon by Zodiac Boat tour was canceled due to high winds. We were still able to enjoy seeing the floating ice in the lagoon, but decided to continue down the coastline to the small town of Hofn! We had a lovely lunch and explored the area before driving back to our hotel at Nupar.

All-in-all, we had a trip of a life-time in Iceland and we couldn't express our thanks to Noga and KimKim any deeper for arranging this for us!

Fosshotel Stykkishólmur
Stykkishólmur

Our room at the Fosshotel Stykkisholmur was on the larger size, situated on the corner of the building overlooking both the town and water! We had a small refrigerator and separate chairs and table at which to sit.

Authenticity & Character
This was more of a business hotel, but very comfortable rooms.
Location
The hotel is located close enough to town that you could walk to restaurants and stores. The local pool is a short walk from the hotel. We did a drive around the Snaefellsnes peninsula which was easily accomplished from this location!
Staff
Staff were all very pleasant and happy to answer any questions we had.
Cleanliness & Comfort
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean!
Hotel Vos
Hella

We spent two nights at the Hotel Vos, which is a small family run hotel located in the countryside near Þykkvibær, South Iceland. Because it's smaller, there is no formal check-in/out process - you do that online once you arrive. You're given a code for your room door and make your way to your room, which is easy to do since it's all on one floor. Parking is free right outside the hotel. The hotel is situated a short distance off the road, so the rooms were nice and quiet! The breakfast was good with fruit, pastry, breads, sliced meats and cheese, etc. We ate our dinner here both nights as the food was delicious! We used the Hotel Vos as a jumping off point to explore Hella and do the Thórsmörk Super Jeep Experience (a must do experience!).

Authenticity & Character
The Hotel Vos was in a rustic setting with horses in the nearby field as well as fields surrounding the area.
Location
Nice inbetween location from the Golden Circle and activities in Hella.
Staff
We really didn't have much interaction with the staff other than the restaurant waitress, who was very sweet.
Cleanliness & Comfort
The bathroom was a nice size. The bed was comfortable and there was a couch and table so you had somewhere other than the bed to sit!
Fosshotel Núpar
Kálfafell

Our room was nice but rather spartan. One nice thing was the small semi-private patio you could walk out on to view the surrounding landscape right from your room! The restaurant food was quite good, which was nice as there really aren't any other restaurants nearby. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

Authenticity & Character
This was more a business type hotel.
Location
Good location for day trips to activities and sights around Vik and Hofn.
Staff
The staff was helpful in letting us know about the aurora wake-up call list we could be added to (alas, no Northern lights).
Cleanliness & Comfort
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean
Hotel Muli
Reykjavik

The Hotel Muli actually turned out to be a bit better than expected. The room was clean and bed comfortable. It was a bit funky in that the elevator had doors on both ends so you had to exit on the right side to get to your room. Parking was on the street, which we felt lucky to get a spot. There are several very good restaurants within walking distance.

Authenticity & Character
It was a very basic hotel, clean but nothing outstanding in character.
Location
The hotel is a bit out of the way if you're coming from the Blue Lagoon area and then returning to the airport the next morning.
Staff
The front desk staff was great. We let her know we would be leaving early in the morning to catch our flight, and she arranged for a sack breakfast to be dropped off at our room later that evening.
Cleanliness & Comfort
The bathroom was nice and the bed was comfortable.

Thórsmörk Super Jeep Experience
Iceland

We loved our experience on the Thórsmörk Super Jeep Experience! We were fortunate to have a small group (7 of us), where other groups had 10-15. Our driver, Simeon, had a dry sense of humor which fit our style perfectly! Once we were fully off-road, Simeon made several stops to view out of the way waterfalls and a glacier you could walk up to! We stopped for a delicious lunch at a remote cabin used by the "forest service" types. There was a short hike one could do or you could just relax on the couches and admire the view! Simeon did a great job explaining how earlier settlers used to travel the same path we took, as you couldn't call most of the trip a road. We did several river crossings and appreciated his expertise in navigating the terrain. He made it look so easy (it wasn't!).

Quality of Experience
It was great to be out in the way beyond where you couldn't go on your own!
Food
The provided lunch was typical Icelandic food - a delicious chickpea salad with rye crackers, fruit and drink as well as a brownie!
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Our driver/guide, Simeon was the best!
Transport
Our vehicle comfortably carried 8 people in total.
Hvammsvík Hot Springs Experience
Hvammsvík Hot Springs Experience
Iceland

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Hvammsvik Hot Springs. The location was on the way from Reykjavík to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. We arrived that morning and did a quick walk around Reykjavik and then drove to the hot springs, about an hour away. The location is perfect. You don't think it's going to be that special until you get closer to the actual building and hot springs. The small cafe attached to the hot springs has delicious drinks and food. When you're ready to enter the hot springs, you're given a towel and water shoes. There are lockers for your clothes and showers. There are several small hot springs you can use ,depending on how hot you want your water to be. The different pools lead up to the Whale Fjord, where you can do a cold plunge. They also have a sauna for your use.

Quality of Experience
The ambience was superb!

We also stayed many places longer than suggested. You just never know what you will get. We were so lucky to have wonderful weather and longer days, so we explored and took literally thousands of pictures.Get ready to keep saying 'WOW'!!!

We met and talked with people from around the world, and the Icelandic people are so warm and welcoming! This plan was truly the best of both worlds because we were traveling independently, but we were never alone because Gummi was always available to re-arrange activities when we experienced flight delays or rough weather or sea conditions. Our rental car, hotels, and purchased activities were all booked by kimkim, and Gummi provided detailed daily maps, a driving schedule, sightseeing opportunities, and a range of eating options for everywhere we stayed. The booking process was seamless and very efficient, and I would absolutely recommend traveling with kimkim for both experienced and novice travelers. And anyone lucky enough to work with Gummi in Iceland is in the hands of the very BEST! This experience was unforgettable!

Regarding the ice cave tour. I know from personal experience as an ice cave guide that the caves are constantly changing. Unfortunately, they are not always as impressive as they look in the promotional pictures, but I think that can be said about anything, as promotional pictures always show locations at their best.

We just completed 9 days in Iceland and had an amazing adventure! Being in Iceland for the first time, our experience with Kimkim and our local travel consultant Gudmundur Oli (Gummi) was exceptional! We liked that Gummi was a native Icelander and could provide excellent, first-hand knowledge of the best places to see and experience. From the initial trip planning and throughout our time in Iceland, Gummi was always available to answer any questions and provide guidance. The Kimkim App and WhatsApp tools were very useful for communications. We accessed the Kimkim App on our phones that had our daily itinerary and all relevant information, maps, reservations, etc. easily accessible. We had a very action-packed itinerary that covered primarily the West and South Highland areas. The specific areas that we really enjoyed included the geothermal lagoon experiences (Laugaras Lagoon was our favorite), old town Reykjavik (great restaurants like the FishMrkt and Fjallkonan), the Golden Circle (including the Geothermal Bakery Experience and Geysir Geothermal area), stunning waterfalls (so many, but our favorite was the striking blue waters of Bruarfoss), hike through the lava formations to Sigoludgljufur Waterfalls, the town of Vik (Vík i Myrdal Church hilltop views and Sudur-Vik Restaurant), Diamond Beach and Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, and the Icelandic Food Walk in Reykjavik (our guide Minty was exceptional!). And, we saw the Norther Lights! Incredibly beautiful country, highly recommend!

I'm sorry you had some car troubles. Even the best maintained cars can break down; I know that as a driver guide. Although their cars are not brand new, I know they do maintain them constantly and it's very rare they have any trouble. Unfortunately, it seems like you got unlucky in that aspect. Many thanks to Noga and the team for filling our 8 days in Iceland with so many wonderful experiences. As it was our first trip to this island country, we wanted to see the classic Golden Ring highlights as well as cover the beauty of the west and southwest coasts in the short-lived fall season. The itinerary flow was perfect from arrival at KEF to our departure. Each day's itinerary was full and required some focus to manage travel times and meet timed entries on occasion, but it was all in the plan. Rain and wind were often present, but it was accounted for in our outfits and did not stop us from pressing forward. We skipped only a couple of the add-on stops not because they wouldn't be interesting (geyser & crater) but because stopped to smell and eat the tomatoes in a very cool greenhouse bistro. We did both the Blue Lagoon (right after getting the rental car at 0900) and Sky Lagoon (seventh day, after an invigorating 3-hour Icelandic horse-back ride in the morning). We really enjoyed the "Thor's Valley" backcountry Jeep ride day. All four accommodations were unique and comfortable in their own way. As a bonus we got to enjoy the Northern Lights on our final two evenings. As we are only a five-hour redeye flight away, we will definitely consider a follow up trip.

A cool place just on the edge of downtown and an easy walk to the sights. Street parking was available and free but did fill up so we didn't move once we got our spot for the one night. It was wonderful working with you, Tom! I am so glad you had a great trip in Iceland. I really appreciate all the feedback on the self-guided stops and the guided experiences. This really helps us improve for the future 😊 I hope you'll decide to visit Iceland again one day and I'll look forward to reconnecting then!

Iceland was amazing and all of the excursions were perfect for myself, sister and 82 year old mother. After a trip to the Blue Lagoon, we went on a Northern Lights trip in a Super Jeep with Thomas and lucked out by seeing a beautiful show just as we were returning to Reykjavik. The next day we did the Golden Circle with our guide Gretar and loved the geyser and waterfall. Lunch at the Tomato Greenhouse is a must - try the tomato IPA. The next two days were spent on the Southern Coast tour. This was a bigger group, but not too big. Our guide Christina did all she could to make our trip exceptional. The icebergs, canyons and waterfalls were amazing. I cannot recommend Kimkim or Iceland enough!

Hotel Review
Hotel Klettur
Reykjavík

The hotel Klettur was exactly what we wanted - nothing too fancy, but really nice. I took off one star because our shower didn't work on the first morning we needed it. The breakfasts were really good. The staff was helpful and nice.

Thomas took us everywhere he could to try to find us the lights. As we drove back into Reykjavik, we finally spotted them. Thomas extended the tour so we could see the incredible show. Thanks Thomas!
