My travel story began with a solo backpacking trip to Singapore—what started as a personal escape quickly became a lifelong passion.
Since then, I’ve helped travelers discover the heart of East Asia through thoughtfully crafted, custom-made trips. I find joy not only in exploring new destinations but also in helping others connect with the culture, cuisine, and hidden gems that make a place truly special.
To me, a great trip isn’t just about where you go—it’s about how you feel while you’re there. Every journey should reflect the traveler’s own pace, interests, and personality. Whether you’re a foodie, a nature lover, or a family seeking balance and fun, I’m here to help you explore with confidence and comfort.
What places and activities do you specialize in?
"Japan: Kanazawa Nature, Kyoto temples, Tokyo neighborhoods, Nara deer park, Mount Fuji retreats
South Korea: Seoul markets, Busan beaches, Jeju island nature
Special Interests: Island hopping, family-friendly routes, cultural deep dives, custom itineraries for small groups or multi-generational families
Let me help you plan a trip that fits your dreams — not just the guidebooks."
How did you get involved in travel?
"I’ve always loved connecting people with places — after years of planning trips for friends and family, I realized that curating travel experiences is more than logistics, it’s storytelling. So I turned my passion into a full-time role, helping travelers create memories in Asia’s most beautiful corners."
Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.
"One of the most unforgettable experiences I’ve had was planning a surprise honeymoon for a couple who had never been to Asia. They wanted romance, relaxation, and just a touch of adventure—but had no idea where to begin. I designed a custom trip across Japan and South Korea, from soaking in a private onsen in Hakone to a secret sunrise hike in Jeju followed by a local market breakfast.
What made it truly special was seeing their reactions in real time—they sent me messages every day, full of joy and awe. By the end of the trip, they told me it felt like the itinerary had been written just for them, like I had known them for years. That’s the kind of connection and care I aim for in every journey I plan."

Judy and her team did an awesome job working with my sister and me. Kimkim took the budget and time schedule my sister and I had and was able to put together a memorable trip that took us from Tokyo to Hakone to Kyoto.
The tour guide who took us from Tokyo to Hakone was very knowledgeable in history and gave us a rundown of the history of Japan from the warring states period (and the moving of the capital from Kyoto to Tokyo) up to the end of the Meiji restoration. I enjoy learning about history; listening to his explanations was a fun way to fill the silence during our travel time between Tokyo and Hakone.
While our tour in Hakone was mainly riding vehicles (we took a car, a cable car, and later a boat), our trip in Kyoto was a lot more walking (especially uphill). Our tour guide in Kyoto I felt was very considerate on maintaining a pace that wasn't too strenuous with all the inclines. She would make sure to suggest a short break if anyone seemed winded, which I appreciated. The last place she took us to was the 1000 torii gate shrine, which we arrived around 4PM (I'll explain why I included this later). We all walked up probably about 20% up the mountain, past most of the notable gates and the shrine that sells charms/personal sized gates. By this point, the tour guide mentioned that the rest of the mountain is pretty much just more stairs and gates and not much more to see. She asked if we wanted to keep going or if we had seen enough and wanted to turn back around. My sister asked to go a little farther, and the tour guide took us another 5 minutes before my sister and I agreed that we were good with turning back and ending our tour. While we were walking back to the car, I asked our tour guide how long it takes to get to the top and if any groups ever ask her to go all the way to the top with them. She replied that it takes about 2 hours round trip and that earlier this year she had gone to the top with 2 separate groups. I honestly feel like if my sister and I wanted to climb all the way to the top, our guide would have accompanied us, which I appreciate because she never mentioned anything about the time and how it would be at least 6PM if we did the whole mountain. (Side note: the guide told us that the shrine doesn't have a closing time and my sister and I could come back later in the evening if we really wanted to get to the summit. We did.)
Overall, I really enjoyed our trip to Japan and would like to thank Judy and her team once again for the wonderful time they planned for me and my sister. Besides the wonderful guides I mentioned above, the logistics behind the trip were equally well thought out. The hotels they picked for us were fantastic and the transportation between each city were seamless.
Thank you again Kimkim for an awesome trip!
Hotel Reviews
Hotel Keihan Tsukiji Ginza Grande
Tokyo
The hotel is very clean and provide complimentary toiletries at the front desk. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast (which I'm not sure if is normally included or was paid through our tour guide) was always well laid out with a good selection to choose from.
Tokinoyu Setsugetsuka
Hakone-machi
The hotel is very clean and provide complimentary pajamas you can wear during your stay. They also give you the option to borrow yukatas (free of charge) if you want instead of using their pajamas. The staff were very friendly (although our server during dinner did seem very stressed). The highlight of this hotel/inn is that you can try out their onsen.
The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Sanjo
Kyoto
The hotel is very clean. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast (which I'm not sure if is normally included or was paid through our tour guide) was always well laid out with a good selection to choose from. The location of the hotel is very good. Once you leave the main entrance, if you go one way, you're a minute walk from the main street with lots of different stores/restaurants to choose from. (There's also a great currency exchange place at the corner of the street for foreigners.) If you go the other way, you're 5 minutes walk away from the metro station. There's also a river you can walk alongside, giving you an alternate path if you don't want to have to walk next to noisy streets.

Half Day Bamboo Grove and Monkey Park Tour

The monkeys were very cute. I can tell the staff there really care about the wellbeing of the monkeys because they make sure to sell only 1 bag of snacks to feed the monkeys per group (to ensure no overfeeding).

Full Day Mt. Fuji and Lake Ashi Tour
Hakone
My sister and I were very lucky to be able to see the top of Mt Fuji. Our tour guide said normally (unless you go during the winter) the mountain is often hidden behind clouds/fog. Going to the top of Mt. Hakone using the cable car and getting to see the Hakone shrine at the summit of the mountain was very cool. Although it wasn't as flashy as some other shrines we saw later in the trip, it was the most memorable shrine for me since it was the first one on our trip/my first Shinto shrine I've been to. The lake tour was nice, but without our tour guide pointing out the historical checkpoint between Kyoto/Tokyo and explaining the significance of it, I would have probably missed it. Did enjoy sailing past the floating torii gate and seeing the many couples trying to take a picture (apparently if you take a picture with your partner at that gate it will bring good luck to your relationship).

Fushimi Inari Taisha and Kinkakuji Temple

Kinkakuji Temple is very pretty. Sad to hear that the original burned down due to arson. Fushimi Inari Taisha was good cardio.

Hotel Keihan Tsukiji Ginza Grande
Tokyo
Good hotel. Close to metro train station and the local fish market. The breakfast buffet had a good variety of food and drinks.
Tokinoyu Setsugetsuka
Hakone-machi
My brother and I ate authentic Japanese dinner and breakfast. We appreciate the option to dress in a traditional yukata. The onsens were relaxing. I also enjoyed the private open air bath located in our hotel balcony. The hotel also offered free snack bar, complimentary ramen, popsicle and yogurt drink. I bought some Hakone souvenirs from the hotel gift shop.
The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Sanjo
Kyoto
Great breakfast buffet! Hotel is walking distance from Gion District and Pontoco Alley.

Half Day Bamboo Grove and Monkey Park Tour
Kyoto
The monkey trail offered pit stops for us to pause and learn more about them before feeding them. To avoid overfeeding the monkeys, each group is limited to feeding the monkeys a pack of apples or peanuts.
The Bamboo forest is beautiful and well maintained.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Our guide was informative and patient. She ensured I didn't feel worn out during the hike up the monkey mountain trail. I also enjoyed a nice lunch and bought souvenirs at Main Street.
Transport
Smooth ride. Complimentary water bottles.
Full Day Mt. Fuji and Lake Ashi Tour
Hakone
The weather was clear enough for us to see Mt Fuji! We learned the floating Tori Gate at Lake Ashi is meant to provide good luck for couples. Our guide also said Hakone used to be a crucial checkpoint between Tokyo and Kyoto.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Our guide made a pit stop at owakudani and let us eat the famous black eggs!
Fushimi Inari Taisha and Kinkakuji Temple
Kyoto
Our guide gave good background info about both sites. After our hike up Fushimi Inari we ate delicious green tea ice cream infused with gold specs. I learned the original golden pavilion was burned down and had to be rebuilt! At Kinkaju Temple, we stopped by a station where you pick up a rock. The effort it takes to pick up the rock provides estimated time for your wish to come true. We also saw a rock island shaped as a turtle that symbolizes longevity and a waterfall where if a koifish jumps above a waterfall it becomes a dragon; similar to how Magikarp eventually evolves into a Gyarados!
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Our guide was informative and patient. She showed us highlights of each station.

KEIO PRELIA HOTEL SAPPORO
Really loved the hotel. Great breakfast, clean rooms, extremely attentive staff. Had to dock a star because the fitness room was only a couple treadmills and a stationary bike. That doesn't hold up to what I'd call a proper fitness room.
Location
Barely a 5 minute walk from Sapporo Station. And all the shopping there. Really it's proximity to the clock tower, the TV Tower, Odori Park, Susukino Crossing. It's all within 20 minutes on foot. Really no need for a cab unless you wish to do further exploration on the outskirts of sapporo and beyond.
Staff
The staff was extremely helpful and kind. Willing to answer even what you may think is the most mundane of questions.
Beautiful hotel very hugh quality. Very rare level of service provided by the staff.
Location
Centered perfectly to be about a 10 to 15 minute cab or bus ride to either kutchan or Niseko. And right next to a lift that will take you to the ski slopes of Mt. Niseko-Annupuri.

I’m so happy to hear that you and your family had a great experience, and that JJ took such good care of you during your time from Nara to Osaka. It sounds like the deer made things extra memorable as well! 🦌
It was a real pleasure planning this trip with you, and I’m so glad it turned out to be such a special experience for your family.

The trip was comprehensive and all inclusive of hotel, transportation and activities, less airfare. All the hotels were of excellent quality and all centrally located. All tour guides and transportation specialists communicated at least one day in advance to confirm all our bookings throughout the trip. They were all very knowledgeable and provided superb, quality service. Judy had recommendations and answered all our questions. She was available and communicated throughout the whole trip. I would highly recommend KimKim and would definitely use them again for our next trip to Japan or Asia. Our trip went as perfectly as can be!

Great hotel. Our hotel got two people and had do split up our family of 4 into two connecting rooms which worked out okay too. Rooms were smaller than other hotels but clean, classy. Located in a business district. Hotel is more for professionals and business. One subway stop away from Umeda which is the big central station with shops. Overall very nice hotel.
