Hi there! I’m Taylor, one of kimkim’s Norway & New Zealand Travel Specialists.
For the past four years, I’ve been immersed in the travel industry, specializing in self-guided hiking and biking adventures and now in fully custom trips to some of the most beautiful corners of the earth. My travels have taken me across the UK and Europe, as well as to incredible destinations like Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Vietnam, and all across the U.S.
Now, I get to turn that passion for exploring into unforgettable trips for others! Whether you’re dreaming of chasing waterfalls through Norway's fjords, hiking beneath the Southern Alps in New Zealand, discovering the rich local cultures, or simply finding the perfect spot to slow down and take it all in, I’m here to help make it happen.
The world is wide, let’s start exploring it, one unforgettable trip at a time!🌎🥾✨
What places and activities do you specialize in?
"I specialize in custom-made adventures through Norway and New Zealand—combining epic mountains with beautiful beaches, that's what I love!"
How did you get involved in travel?
"I went on my first solo and international trip in 2016 to Australia and New Zealand, where I got to explore, what felt like the edge of the world after a 16-hour flight, in any way that I wanted. I hiked the coastline, lied on the beaches, tried surfing, hiked to glaciers, swam with dolphins, and also made lifelong friendships along the way. Getting to travel is a gift that keeps on giving and once I got bit by that bug, I haven't stopped!"
Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.
"One of my absolute favorite memories was such a simple moment. One of my best friends and I, who I hadn't seen in-person in 3 years, were on an overnight sail. We woke up before dawn, bundled up in layers, and sat out on the deck together to stargaze and watch the sunrise. It wasn’t the biggest or most adventurous moment of the trip, but it was the one that meant the most. That quiet morning under the Norwegian sky is something I’ll never forget."

Breakfast was amazing - in selection and quality. Lovely enclosed glass area.
Staff
The front desk staff were so helpful and accommodating. Went above and beyond!
Home Hotel Bryggen
Bergen
Lovely room overlooking the water. Breakfast and dinner very much self-serve.
Spread out with walking to cottage taking a while. Staff were so very helpful, helping with large luggage. Loved the sauna! Since it was midday I had it to myself!
It was like our own little home! Living and dining space, fridge and all.
Quite a walk to city center- used a taxi a few times.

Drive to Geiranger via Trollstigen
Norway
This wasn’t possible due to roadworks. Wish we knew in advance, especially since our original cruise was cancelled.
We ended up taking the Atlantic coastal road. Gorgeous!
The downside was with the car. Nice car but neither of us had ever driven an electric car. Had a problem with refueling. Don’t know if the problem was with us or the car!?
Ægir Viking Meal Experience

This was a highlight of our trip! The atmosphere, quality of food and drink was superb! Went to bar afterwards and had a grand evening meeting people!
Private Lofoten Sightseeing Trip
Svolvær
Everything about this place was phenomenal! Loved the other islands and getting a sense of how people lived and survived.

Northern Lights Chase
Svolvær
This was special since we saw phenomenal northern lights! We had the driver to ourselves as a group cancelled. He was a real aficionado of the lights and had been doing it for a lifetime!we were lucky to have seen the lights the night of our arrival as well.

The problem was with the airport personnel, insisting I needed a visa to enter Ireland and wasn’t going to let me board! Whatever guidelines I showed him online meant nothing I convinced him to let me fly to Bodo where a helpful staff person resolved it. It was a great inconvenience involving rechecking bags and going through security again. I hope he was corrected on this!

We felt well taken care of and every excursion, experience and transfer ran smoothly. And our fabulous guides were knowledgeable and went above and beyond to show us around and pivot when necessary.

The itinerary provided in the app needed many clarifications to make it flow chronologically, and to make it parallel the actual legs of the trip. Also, I would have preferred that any messages from KimKim came to me directly in email, and not through the app, because my iPhone would not allow me to access the trip chat area in the app, no matter what I tried. I could only see messages in the evening of each day on my iPad, which I didn't carry around with me, and my desktop, which I obviously didn't take with me.

Kind of run down. The hallway outside our room smelled of mold or something unpleasent. No tissues in the bathrooms. Buffet breakfast was good.

The culture and food walk was excellent-please tell the woman who led the tour (I did not catch her name) that she was a pleasure to spend time with. Hotel Review
This hotel was located in the midst of everything we wanted to do. It is a bit run-down.
Their breakfast was excellent. Something I noticed in most of the hotels that differs from the US. In the US, there are generally tissues in the bathrooms. Not so in our first few hotels. Also, could have used a night light to get around.
Authenticity & Character
Just a bit run-down.
Location
Centrally located to all activities.
Staff
I really did not interact with them to have much of an opinion.

Edvard Munch Museum in Oslo (Tickets not included)
Oslo
One of the reasons we went to Norway was to see the original "Scream"- Bucket list satisfied. The museum had fabulous art, not just by Munch, but other Norway artists.
Njardarheimr Viking Village Day Trip with Nærøyfjord Cruise & Bus Transfer
Norway
The Viking Village was so much better than I expected. The docents, dressed in garb of the day, were excellent at explaining the history, closing, weaving, etc. The "fights" were fun to watch. The transportation to the village was easy and pleasant. One issue: we had a very hard time finding the Village after we got off the boat. There were competing directional signs and people that sent us in the wrong direction. Signage needs help.
Quality of Experience
Finding the viking village was a problem for us. The overall day was fun and interesting.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
They answered all questions and were generally kind.
Transport
We got there in one piece! LOL
Ægir Viking Meal Experience
Norway
They brought us to our seats upstairs right on time. The waiter was so helpful, especially when we had questions about the content of the food (I am lactose intolerant and was wary of the soup)-all was GREAT. And since we don't drink beer, he gave us a locally brewed hard cider-what luck!! The food was outstanding. And it was wonderful that the restaurant was night next to the hotel. After a long day of having fun, we were exhausted and the small distance made this easy.
Quality of Experience
Being with my husband of 53 years and enjoying ourselves sharing a new experience!
Fløibanen Funicular Ride
Bergen
What a quick trip up and down! I hardly noticed the ride- but at the top, we saw Troll Carvings (so much fun) in the dense forest. The cashmere goats were adorable. The view was inbetween raindrops, but that's Norway and to be expected.
Quality of Experience
A little less rain, Norway! LOL
Geirangerfjord Cruise & Day Trip
Norway
The boat was new and very comfortable. We traveled 3 hours to Alesund, had 3 hours on land and then 3 hour return. I did enjoy the waterfalls and farms along the way. I downloaded the app on the boat and learned lots about the areas we passed-very useful and interesting. Lunch was at the Brasserie Posten where we had beet root, herring, and salad over toasted rye. Very traditional Norwegian food.
Food & Culture Walk
Bergen
Worthwhile time spent with a very knowledgeable guide. We tasted foods at the new Fish Market, had sample of sausage from whale and other fish at the old fish market. Walked around Bryggen and visited a bar downstairs where local beer was offered. Stories of kings marrying commoners. Norway soup at another venue. Visited UNESCO site for artists.
Lovely afternoon!

The guide really knew her stuff. I did not catch her name. If you can locate her, please tell her how pleased we were.

had found KimKim while in the process of planning our honeymoon in Norway. A traditional travel agent wouldn't be able to provide what I was looking for but the scale of what I was trying to accomplish seemed massive and I knew I needed some help. A quick Google search led me to KimKim and it was exactly what I was looking for.
After a quick email exchange about where we wanted to travel too, we were put into contact with our local expert, Taylor. We started the dialog about where we wanted to go and things we wanted to do and she put together the first version of an itinerary for us. During the entire process she was very receptive to all modifications we wanted to make on top of giving meaningful feedback on our ideas since she has actually traveled in this area before. After some back and forth and a few versions of the itinerary, we had the blueprint for our perfect vacation. I should mention that up until this point we had not been charged for anything by KimKim and Taylor had been working hard on this for us for over a month. We paid the deposit after the itinerary was locked in and then Nick and Maria got to work booking all of our accommodations, excursions and transportation (airport transfers, etc.. KimKim does not book your flights).
Once everything was booked, the entire itinerary along with all confirmation numbers was conveniently put into an app and shared with us. I can't stress enough how awesome it was not having to sift through pages of emails looking for confirmation numbers and hotel addresses while abroad. I never had to do more than pull up the app to find any information I needed, and each location was linked to Google maps.
Our honeymoon went off without a hitch, and it was one of the best experiences I've had in my life. Not once did we run into a hiccup, every ride transfer was waiting for us when we needed them and if I had a question someone was prompt with a response. All in all the entire experience was a joy from start to finish and I would 100% book another trip with KimKim in the future.
Massive thanks to Taylor, Nick and Maria 🙌

Aselund in the Lofoten Islands was the highlight of the Norwegian region with the majestic mountains, lakes, rivers and Fjords. The city tours in each region were helpful and educational to understand the history and culture of Norwegian heritage.
One Negative...The "Norway In A Nutshell" day tour was a disaster with the distance that had to partake to get to the Fjord over 12 hours in trains (3), busses, and a ferry. The day in Flam was a tourist trap with souvenir shops everywhere. However, we captured a waterfall hike in Flam that overshadowed the transportation distance to get there.
The Norwegian trip overall was a bucket list expedition of nature, cultural presence, adventurous Fjords that will be memorable forever.
KimKim will be used in future regions that we are not familiar in travels going forward. Thank you for your knowledge, experience, and support to make this a comfortable, relaxing, adventurous holiday for our 45th Anniversary celebration!

Historical Elevator is very small. Breakfast is great. People were hospitable.
The room is not comfortable as it was 2 levels with an upper bedroom loft with stairways, a living area with crossing wooden beams throughout the room that we hit repeatedly and one small window looking out to the courtyard and market. We asked for another room but they said they were fully booked and did not accommodate us.

It's hard for me to say which aspect of the trip was most memorable. Was it seeing in person the World Heritage fjords (something I had on my bucket list) or was it the experience of driving Lofoten where I had no prior vision of how spectacular that actually was. Or, was it the architecture of Alesund and their 148 steps vista. Norway is just one visual gift after another.
Hotel Reviews
Home Hotel Bryggen
Bergen
Ideally located within walking distance of everything you want to see.
Authenticity & Character
While an historic building, it amenities were sufficiently upgraded
Of all the hotels I stayed in during this trip, I was least impressed by this guesthouse.
Authenticity & Character
I suspect the reason for KimKim chosing this guesthouse was its view of the fjord. However, that view is somewhat blocked by trees.
Location
Getting to it was both confusing and uphill.. both from the dock and then the steep driveway and staircase you needed to climb. With 2 suitcases, this 78 year old was not happy. Given there is a hotel close to where you dock, I would have appreciated that convenience. Also, the hotel provides dinner, but it does not provide choices.
Staff
Having to ring a bell in order to have someone assist or answer questions, is just not classy
Cleanliness & Comfort
I felt like I was in a dormitory room.
At this point I had a rental car; however, the hotel did not provide parking nor any assistance in explaining how to pay for parking. I managed to figure it out, but that fact tainted my feeling about the hotel.
Authenticity & Character
Fine but nothing special.
Location
This was my first exposure to Lofoten and I was so impressed by how nature surrounded the area.
Staff
When you're in a foreign place you want greater assistance regarding unfamilar things ie: paying for parking.
The Tide Rorbuer
Sørvågen
This hotel was a little confusing, as I was assigned a cabin instead of a room. Finding this cabin was not clearly explained, but eventually I did. But this was after a day's drive, so it added a level of frustration to what was an amazing area. The cabin was ok, but I didn't need a kitchenette as I was not planning on making my own meals. I would have requested a change if I had known this was the choice KimKim made. Would recommend KimKim explain the options before booking.
Staff
As a solo traveler I am keenly aware of how I am treated by hotels and restaurants. I felt I was not particularly appreciated as a guest - especially in their restaurant.
Quality Hotel Ålesund
Ålesund
I loved everything about Alesund including this hotel. The rooms were uniquely laid out. Their restaurant was full service. Their staff was both knowledgeable and helpful.
Location
As it turned out, they were exactly where I wanted them to be in relation to resturants and sites.

Visit the Gol Stave Church (Norwegian Museum of Cultural History)
Oslo
For me, architecture is important, so this visit may be more personal than necessary for most. However, getting to the church required a short ferry ride which added a pleasant element to the experience.
Driving the Lofoten Islands: Nature Stops Along the Way
Norway
Lofoten is one amazing site after another. Even with the summer traffic that gave me more reasons to stop and take in the views.
This is not a hike for the faint of heart. The steps are huge chunks of rock requiring much effort everytime. The climb is very vertical, so if you have any fear of heights, you might want to reconsider this choice. There is no railing (and there are sections where a misstep could be serious). The climb up is the climb down, so crowds going both ways can be a challenge. In retrospect, I wondered if I had made a bad choice (but the view WAS spectacular and no point in crying over spilt milk!) Although my 78 year old body had a very different point of view.
Quality of Experience
Although the reward is spectacular, I was more scared descending than going up.
Visit Henningsvær
Svolvær
Since the drive from Solvaer to Reine is relatively short, I enjoyed getting off the main road and visiting as many of the towns along the way (Henningsvaer being one). Each is uniquely placed, so each offers a different view. What I also found, is this helped slow me down vs racing to Reine.
Geirangerfjord Cruise & Day Trip
Norway
The boat ride took special care to slow down (and in some instances, stop altogether) to explain what we were seeing and provide anecdotal stories related to the series of waterfalls. Time at the end of the fjord was just long enough to let you refresh, eat lunch or just walk around. It was an extremely pleasant day.
Fjord RIB Safari & Undredal Cheese Tasting
Norway
The speed boat ride was the experience, but the stop to taste the local cheese was a nice touch.

Enjoyed learning more about Munch than just his 'The Scream". That said, the museum has a dedicated room for the 3 versions of The Scream.

Our favorite hotel was Flåm Marina in Flåm. The location was perfect, slightly out of the main town, which meant we avoided the large crowds when cruise ships were in town. The hotel overlooked the water and was beautiful. The location and setting made it our top choice.
Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz
Bergen
Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz in Bergen was great and very well located in the middle of the tourist area, which was perfect for us as tourists. The hotel was nice and convenient for exploring the city.
Karl Johan Hotel in Oslo was well located right on the main street, which was very convenient. The only minor issue was that the walk from the Oslo train station to the hotel was bit of a walk with luggage, which could be challenging for some travelers, but it was manageable for us.
